Hey guys, I'm Jenny! I scream at the TV often during game broadcasts and (re)blog hockey posts like a mad woman on Tumblr. Hockey is a lifestyle of couture and rad hip checks. I scream loudest for Vancouver Canucks & Chicago Blackhawks, don't judge me... too hard. [Mike Santorelli & Mason Raymond is the best I never had.] Tell Kelly I said "hi"!

As the playoffs near, it’s easy to see how excited hockey fans on tumblr become in cheering for their favorite teams. Sometimes, this excitement spirals out of control though, and it leaves people feeling hurt and negative and like total crap. That’s where we come in!

Inspired by the mantra of Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson, Project “Be Kind to Yourself” is aimed to highlight that despite our differences, we the hockey fanbase are a family and when it matters, we stand by each other.

To help spread positivity, we’re asking you to submit a story telling us how hockey helped you be kind to yourself. It doesn’t need to be life changing, or the stuff of novels! It can be as simple as “It saved me from dying of boredom because tv shows aren’t my thing” and you can send in your story in two ways:By sending it in through the submit box, or
Sending it in an ask, if it’s short enough.
We will be accepting stories until May 20th, 2014,so make sure you get your stories in by then! After all entries have been submitted we’ll be compiling them into a neat little book which will then be able for viewing online. The rules are:
no swearing, slurs, or demeaning language
no negative mentions of teams or players, we’re trying to spread positivity!
anonymous entries are accepted
please be legible in your stories, acronyms are ok, as long as we can decode them!
it’s ok to mention specific players or teams
get your stories in before the mentioned deadline.
Check back on this blog for updates, and spread the word, not only to your tumblr friends, but to all hockey fans you know, lets spread the positivity :)

This is a great!

This is a great!

Depression does not always mean
Beautiful girls shattering at the wrists
A glorified, heroic battle for your sanity
Or mothers that never got the chance to say good-bye

Sometimes depression means
Not getting out of bed for three days
Because your feet refuse to believe
That they will not shatter upon impact with the floor

Sometimes depression means
That summoning the willpower
To go downstairs and do the laundry
Is the most impressive thing you accomplish that week

Sometimes depression means
Lying on the floor staring at the ceiling for hours
Because you cannot convince your body
That it is capable of movement

Sometimes depression means
Not being able to write for weeks
Because the only words you have to offer the world
Are trapped and drowning and I swear to God I’m trying

Sometimes depression means
That every single bone in your body aches
But you have to keep going through the motions
Because you are not allowed to call in to work depressed

Sometimes depression means
Ignoring every phone call for an entire month
Because yes, they have the right number
But you’re not the person they’re looking for, not anymore

Share ten facts about you and then share this to 10 of your favorite followers! :)

Aw shucks… favourite follower? 0^◇^0)/ Mason ftw!

OK 10 Random facts about me:

1. I can wiggle my ears. Both at the same time or one at a time.

2. I am fluent in 3 languages and can read and write (not fluent) in 2 others.

3. I love to draw but hate colouring.

4. People who don’t know me personally never guessed my age right. I still get ID’ed to 18A movies… ridiculous!

5. I hoard a lot of makeup but never use them all. Sometimes, I keep them so long not even using it that I have no choice but to dump them later. I also have a crap load of skincare and makeup samples I don’t end up using.

6. I love to buy clothes but hate going to actually shop for it - there’s even clothes in my closet that I bought a year ago still with tags.

7. I was always ‘that nerd’ through high school and even now in university… I procrastinate like it’s a ritual but always end up with really good grades. [Efforts, no matter how late before the deadline, are always counted.]

8. One time, I was driving to downtown and at a red light, Mason Raymond pulled up beside me. Lets just say that I got a lot of honks after because I had been too shocked to go even on green. I also ‘met’ Ryan Kesler the first time that way.

9. I have never attended a losing sports game. Canucks, Giants, UBC hockey, and Whitecaps have always won when I was in attendance. I also splurge insanely to sit close to the front, like top 6 rows.

10. I’m a dedicated fan from Vancouver but cheer for both the home team Canucks and Blackhawks. This is because I met Sharpie, Kaner, and Tazer in 2010 Olympics and I haven’t looked back since. I scream loudest for these 2 teams.

Ah these are quite lame and some aren’t even good facts. Sorry, I’m a bit boring out of Tumblr. >_<”
